'If It's Football, It's Vital'

No Doubt about it

The 21 year - old Kirkham born defender has struggled to break into the Pool first team over the last few seasons. Of course the main reason for Phil's lack of first team action has been the horrendous injuries that he has suffered.

Phil has managed one FA Cup sub appearance for the Seasiders when he became a record breaker in December 2002 being the youngest player to represent Pool in the cup. However, Doughty has been limited to just a handful of LDV Vans Trophy appearances ever since.

Doughty will join up with his Pool team mate Simon Wiles at Moss Rose for the next month in order to gain some first team experience.

On the news of Doughty's departure, Simon Grayson told the official website that it would be a great opportunity to gain some first team football. Grayson said: 'It will do Phil the world of good. He will be in and around the first team squad and hopefully he will get some first team football under his belt.'

You never know, with Pool's current defensive problems, in terms of injuries and suspensions, Doughty may be needed in a Tangerine shirt in the not too distant future.

I sincerely hope that isn't the end of his time as a 'Pool player - likewise for Simon Wiles. Always thought big Phil can do a decent job and Wilesy has talent by the bucket-load and could be the answer to our right-wing problems if/when he returns. All the best to them both.

Totally agree on Wilesy, Jerry. Given our small squad can we really afford to be loaning out more than are coming in?

More are going out than comming in. Macc seemto like our players and they have done a good jpb for them.

Lets hope he gets the experience he needs and obviuosly can get a good run without injury.
