'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Busy day at Bloomers

If Chairman Karl Oyston didn’t have enough on his plate at the moment with the proposed take-over bids, pressure from the fans to leave the club and Christmas shopping, then Oyston must loved last Friday which featured two departures, a new face and a renewed loan for one player at the club, no wonder he wants to sell up.

The morning started of with the departure of Andy Welsh. The first team coach, who was appointed by manager Simon Grayson to help out in Grayson’s managerial trail, has left for a prestigious coaching role at Manchester United. Welsh, a former Pool player will link up with United’s feeder club, Royal Antwerp in developing the Red’s youngsters.

Before the door had closed from Welsh’s departure there was a new face to replace the former Manchester City coach. Another former Manchester City coach in the form of Asa Hartford. The 55-year-old joined up with the team on Monday morning for his first training session, Hartford has also served as a manager at the lower levels, he was in charge at Stockport and Shrewsbury during the 90’s and its this experience which might prove to be vital in the now inevitable relegation scrap which the Seasider’s are now faced with.

One player who won’t have chance to work with Hartford is Blackburn Rovers loanee Gary Harkins. The midfield who scored once in his five appearances for the Pool’ has decided not to extend his loan at the seaside. The 20-year-old, who was Grayson’s first foray into the transfer market has retuned to Rovers immediately.

Some good news for Grayson was the signing for a further month of Danny Warrender. The Manchester City full-back who captains the blue’s reserves will remain at the seaside till the 21st of January, which is the last possible date his loan deal permits. Warrender who has made nine appearances for the seasider’s contract at City expires at the end of the season. The right-back will be looking to impress for the rest of his spell with the Pool’ as Simon Grayson has expressed the possibility of a permanent deal for the youngster.
