Remembering 66'

For those who don't know this summer marks the 40-year anniversary of England winning the World Cup. Beating Germany 4-2 England lifted the trophy on home soil, the only time they have ever done so. Not since losing the semi-finals of Italia 90' have an England team had a chance to win the trophy once again as the one has this summer in Germany.

Last Friday night at Bloomfield Road a special night was held to remember the triumph of 66'. With special guests Sir Jimmy Armfield who was part of the England squad, Alan Ball who played in the final and was a Blackpool player at the time, the guest of honour was Jack Charlton.
BR>All of the guest spoke about their memories of that final in 66', and the rest of their distinguished careers. The highlight for some was when Jackie Charlton told members of a table near to him to shut up with the comments they were putting him off, the big man showing his authority still at the age of 71.

Also the night doubled up for presentation to P.A. announcer Chris Hull who has retirement this season, he received a decanter from Chairman Karl Oyston, a scarf from the Yorkshire Seasiders, a framed 53 program from BSA and Jimmy Armfield gave Chris some Blackpool cufflinks.

We managed to grab some photos from the top table and a few photos of the guest in action. A great night was had by all, organised by Chris Hull junior all the proceeds went to lighting for the Stan Mortensen statue and to charities.
