'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Reserves Go Down, Again....

It looked bright for the very young Blackpool side, when, in the first minute, Phil Doran supplied a cross for Alex Smith to poke home. Smith nearly scored soon after, but sent his drive stright at the keeper.

Mark Rivers, once a target for Simon Grayson, helped Carlisle back into the game when he and Ashley Combe combined to carve a penalty. Simon Grand scored.

On the next attack they took the lead. Simon Hackney beat Kyle Clancy to the ball, after a Mark Rivers through ball, to slot it home.

An onslaught followed, where young 'Pool keeper excelled. Soon after though, the home side took a firm grip on the game. Mark Rivers, (why is he playing reserve team football?) again dazzled on the wing and again supplied for Hackney to score with his head.

In the 41st minute, a fourth goal saw off a BFC challenge, where Mark Rivers powered home a superb finish. 4-1 at the break.

No more goals, but the second half didn't pass without incident. Rivers scored, but was adjudged to be offside. Both teams had further chances, but none were but away.

After the game, Steve Thompson said ' I thought we did ever so well, we were a young side, which included some of the Under 16's team .'

Blackpool team: K Clancy, Metcalfe, Doran, S Clancy, Bayliss (Penswick 82), Linford, Shaw, Ogden (Morella 42), Smith, Kay, Perry-Action (McMenemy 82).

Sub not used: Matthews.
